Three people are facing charges in connection with the theft of farm implements and engine parts from the western section of Iredell County.
Andrew Phillip Church, 32, of Taylorsville, Cameron Alaine Grant, 32, of Lockhart Farm Lane, Statesville and Mary Elizabeth Campbell, 33, of County Line Road, Stony Point, were each charged with obtaining property by false pretense. Church was also charged with two counts of felony larceny and one count of attempted larceny and Grant was charged with one count of felony larceny and four counts of misdemeanor larceny.
Capt. Darren Campbell of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said that detectives learned three people were at a local recycling plant and had attempted to sell some scrap metal.
Detectives located the suspects in a Dodge Caravan and also found several stolen items, including engine parts and farm implements, Campbell said.
Detectives and deputies from the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team (ACE) checked and found that the three suspects were involved in larcenies in western Iredell County, Campbell said.
The stolen items were linked to several farms in that area and returned to the owners, many of whom had not yet discovered the items were missing, Campbell said.
Campbell said the case is still under investigation and more charges are likely.
He advised residents to notify the sheriff’s office of any suspicious activity such as strange vehicles loading scrap metal.
Bond for Church was set at $10,000 while Grant’s was set at $7,500. Campbell’s bond was set at $500.
