A Statesville man faces felony drug charges after more than 100 grams of marijuana was found in his vehicle during a traffic stop, police said.
Statesville Police Chief Tom Anderson said Antoine Jacoby Robinson, 23, of Whisper Pine Road was charged with maintaining a dwelling/vehicle to keep/sell controlled substances, possession of Schedule VI and manufacture/sell/deliver/possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $9,000.
Anderson said Officers Eric Cheek and Zach Johnson and an Alcohol Law Enforcement officer conducted a traffic stop on Garner Bagnal Boulevard at Wilson Lee Boulevard around 9 p.m. on Feb. 11.
The officers smelled the odor of marijuana in the car, and used a canine to search around the outside of the car, Anderson said. The canine indicated the presence of a controlled substance, and a search of the car revealed 114 grams of marijuana wrapped in separate baggies, Anderson said.
He said Robinson gave officers a fake identification card. The officers learned Robinson’s driver license was revoked, Anderson said.
In addition to the drug charges, he was also charged with resisting a public officer, presenting a fictitious license and driving while license is revoked.
