Man charged with trying to cash fraudulent check

A Georgia man was charged after authorities said he attempted to cash a fraudulent check at a Mooresville bank.

Ronney Elwood Gordon Jr. of Waycross, Ga. was charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretense. His bond was set at $5,000.

On Jan. 27, Detective Sgt. Maple of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Unit began an investigation into an attempt to pass a fraudulent check at the Aquesta Bank on Williamson Road, Mooresville, said Sheriff Phil Redmond. The check was written for $986.32.
