A Statesville man faces charges of kidnapping and assaulting his estranged girlfriend.
Willie Turner Jr., 55, of Statesville was arrested on charges of felonious restraint, assault inflicting serious injury and communicating threats.
Capt. D.B. Johnson of the Statesville Police Department said that on Saturday, Turner forced the woman to get into his vehicle, where he repeatedly assaulted her. Johnson said Turner eventually took her to a local plant near Monroe Street and he dragged her inside and threatened her.
He physically assaulted her again, and the next morning, drove her to another location, demanding that she get her bank card to get some money, Johnson said.
It was at this point that the woman was able to escape and call police.
Turner was arrested Sunday and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was ordered held without bond.
