Parker’s talking points fail to convince Dem David Parker was a guest on the radio on Wednesday morning, for what I thought was supposed to be a call-in show. However, it turned into a DNC talking points show. It convinced me that, as a life-long registered Democrat, I did not want any part of what Parker had to offer. He used the program to push his dislike for any points other than his. He implied that if you watched Fox News, you are dumb or misinformed. I happen to like most of Fox News. Mr. Parker has been spouting DNC talking points since he became Chairman of the North Carolina Democratic party. But on several topics, I find him to be a hypocrite. One such topic is redistricting. When Iredell County was split into three districts by Democrats, I don’t remember him crying about this being wrong. When the Democrats made a Mel Watt district that looks like a snake on the map for racial purposes, I didn’t hear him crying about that. I will give him credit for making sure that this Democrat will not be voting Democrat any time soon. Thanks David. Jack Neel Troutman Community coat drive for shelter a success Just a quick note to let the community know that our January coat drive at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home supplied a truckload of very nice coats to the Fifth Street Shelter Ministries. A big "thank you" to those who dropped by and donated coats. Rest assured, they will be put to good use. Bill Brater Statesville
