City residents can now pay utility bill online

»  Comments | Post a Comment

City of Statesville utility customers now have a new way to receive their monthly utility bills. Instead of receiving a paper bill, customers can now choose to receive an email notifying them that their monthly utility bill is ready. The city calls the new service E-bill and it has been under way for several weeks.

“There were many requests from customers for this service, especially those who do not reside in Statesville,” explained Statesville Finance Director Lisa Salmon, “and the response has been very good.”

To sign up, customers can email the city at customerservice@statesvillenc.net to request the change to electronic billing. The staff will set up the account and notify the customer when it is completed.

The E-bill will come to the customer’s email account from “customerservice@statesvillenc.net” and provide a link for the customer to view their bill. It will have the same information as the monthly statement, but formatted in a slightly different way.

Utility customers can pay the bill through the city’s online payment system, mail it in or bring it to the Collections Office at 301 S. Center St.  The city also offers payment by bank draft. Past-due notices or other correspondence from the city about the bill will be mailed to the billing account’s mailing address through the U.S. Postal Service.

The city maintains a secure environment for its electronic transactions and email addresses are not shared with any outside party, explained Salmon.

The city’s E-bill promotional materials list the benefits of E-bill as: one less piece of mail to sort through; bills are received immediately; mailing delays are avoided; always know where your bill is; postage savings; and environmental savings to trees, energy and other natural resources.

“It won’t be for everyone,” explained Salmon. “But we are sure many customers appreciate the ability to both receive and submit payments for their utility bills online.”
