Socialeyes helps businesses use social media

Cindy Sutton and Ashley Yaussi can certainly start a conversation. The pair are using their sales, marketing and public relations experiences to get people talking about businesses around Statesville through a new social media consulting firm, The Socialeyes LLC.Sutton said the firm is trying to help people navigate social media sites, such as Twitter, Four Squares and Facebook.“A lot of people create a page, but they don’t know how to use it,” Sutton said. “Our focus first and foremost is to grow downtown Statesville."Sutton started out by working on the Facebook pages for her husband’s business, Groucho’s Deli, and her own, Sabine’s News Cafe. Both are located on Broad Street.Gradually, she has started to take on other Facebook pages for businesses, such as Gracie, Purple Heart Homes, Olde Time Sweets and Concessions, Finishline Ford and Historic Downtown Statesville. She said she saw a need to spread the word about Statesville businesses. “Most people think that you can type something on Facebook and people will see it,” she said. “Our main focus is not only to build pretty pages.”Social media is the number one online activity, Yaussi said, which doesn’t surprise her since some people practically live on Facebook.“It is just something to get them to participate,” she said.Sutton said she helps create traffic for these sites by tagging posts for related events or other fan pages. For example, when newspapers wrote articles about nonprofit Purple Heart Homes' latest project, Socialeyes wrote thank you’s on the newspaper’s Facebook site and tagged Purple Heart Homes. Sutton said the number of likes for the Purple Heart Home’s Facebook site has gone up 253.She has also helped promote special events, such as Gracie Boutique’s Diva Night.Socialeyes charges $35 an hour, and has a minimum retainer for two hours a month.“We want to be a one-stop shop for your social media needs,” Sutton said. For more information, contact Sutton and Yaussi at info@thesocialeyesllc.com.
