U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx will host a town hall forum on health care Monday in Statesville.
The forum, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room B at the Statesville Civic Center, will "provide an opportunity for concerned citizens to share their ideas about health care reform and voice their thoughts on legislation pending in Congress," according to a Foxx office press release.
Foxx, whose North Carolina 5th District includes most of Iredell County, has been an outspoken critic of the Obama Administration's health care plan.
"The best ideas always come from the people, so this town hall will provide a great opportunity to hear people's ideas and concerns regarding health care reform," Foxx said in the press release. "Health care reform will impact everyone in North Carolina and it is important that we get it right. Unfortunately, there is too much backroom dealing going on in Washington and the concerns of average North Carolinians must be heard."
The forum is open to the public.
Foxx, whose seat in Congress is up for re-election, will face Keith Gardner of Hickory in the May 4 Republican primary. Democrat Billy Kennedy of Vilas has also filed for the seat.
