A man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl is now in custody.
Otis Edward Hambright Jr., 61, of Mooresville turned himself into the Iredell County Sheriff's Office on Friday morning, said Lt. Bill Hamby of the ICSO Special Victims Unit.
Hamby said that on June 29, a 12-year-old girl reported she had been sexually assaulted.
The girl was interviewed at the Dove House Child Advocacy Center in Statesville. After interviewing the girl and others, Hamby said, warrants for attempted first-degree sexual offense and taking indecent liberties with a minor were issued Thursday.
Hamby said the investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
Hambright's bond was set at $750,000.
