Ozburn-Hessey Logistics will take over distribution for the Elmer's Products facility off Front Street.
OHL has established a new distribution facility in Statesville in a portion of the vacant La-Z-Boy facility in Sherrill Industrial Park, which will support the Elmer's business, according to an Elmer's press release.
The transition will take place in the second quarter of this year, and Elmer's employees who handle distribution and warehouse duties will be given the opportunity to apply for jobs with OHL, said Elmer's spokeswoman Terri Brown. The facility currently employs 60 to 70 people.
The transition will not affect the manufacturing side of operations, said Elmer's spokeswoman Terri Brown.
Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Elmer's has facilities in Statesville, Ann Arbor, Seattle and Canada.
Greater Statesville Development Corp. Executive Director Mike Smith said OHL should move in within the next six weeks.
"I don't see us as a community losing any jobs on this," he said. "It's very much a positive that they are staying here."
