STATESVILLE, NC – A Taylorsville man died from injuries received when his motorcycle hit a deer on Linney’s Mill Road early Monday morning.
Robert Andrew Pruitt, 38, of Taylorsville died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Trooper M.B. Childres of the N.C. Highway Patrol said Pruitt was riding a 1991 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Linney’s Mill Road around 3 a.m. Monday when the motorcycle struck a deer that was in the road.
Pruitt was thrown from the bike.
Childres said it doesn’t appear that Pruitt was traveling at an excessive rate of speed, but he was not wearing a Department of Transportation approved helmet. He sustained massive head injuries in the crash, Childres said.
