It was a great weekend for downtown.
The streets were packed with families and friends strolling from business to business during the Art Crawl. For once, the weather cooperated, and people had a perfect evening to mingle, shop and eat.
It is impressive to see just how much local talent we have in Iredell County, from well-known artists like Kostas and David Shoemaker to up-and-coming talents from Mitchell Community College and Statesville High School.
The organizers of the Art Crawl have done a good job making the event a new downtown tradition.
The weather cooperated again Saturday morning as hundreds of people walked through downtown in support of the March of Dimes.
The March for Babies is intended to raise funds and awareness about premature birth, and the event successfully did both.
There is plenty more fun coming up downtown, starting with the Mitchell 5K race on Saturday. The Friday After Five concerts kick off May 28 and the next Art Crawl is set for Sept. 17.
