»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Statesville convenience store was robbed early Wednesday morning.

Statesville Police Chief Tom Anderson said a man came into the Kangaroo on Safriet Road at East Broad Street around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

He did not display a weapon, but had his hand inside his hooded sweatshirt, indicting he had a weapon.

After getting cash, the man ran behind the store, and apparently got into a car parked near Arby's.

Anderson said no one saw a vehicle, but police found evidence that a vehicle sped out of the area near Arby's.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a blue sweatshirt. He also had a blue bandanna over his face, Anderson said.
