Planning and hosting birthday parties is hard enough, but even more so when it's a summer birthday. Unlike years past, almost every guest responded to the RSVP request fairly quickly. But most of responses were regrets. There were a few tense moments when we thought we'd have only two guests. Don't laugh. It happened last year.]]></description>

Not long ago I was watching my youngest daughter play with a playmate in a meadow in front of their preschool. It was a beautifully sunny day with a cerulean blue sky. Spread randomly around the meadow were small clusters of dandelions in full bloom, as well as daisies, bluets and one or two other small wildflowers I didn't recognize. A slight breeze brushed the tall grass against their legs. ]]></description>
