The North Iredell Pharmacy, located between Harmony and Union Grove, was robbed Wednesday night by two armed men.
The two suspects tied up the two employees and stole one of their vehicles before leaving the store, which is at the corner of N.C. Highway 901 and Tabor Road, said Capt. Darren Campbell of the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
The stolen car wrecked and was abandoned on Crater Road just moments after the robbery was reported.
The sheriff's office used canines and the N.C. Highway Patrol helicopter to try to locate the two suspects, but no trace of them was found, Campbell said.
In addition to the employee's car, a weapon and prescription drugs belonging to one of the employees were taken.
Campbell said similar robberies have been reported in the past few weeks in Albemarle, Rutherfordton, Newton, Hickory, Salisbury and Statesville.
He said detectives are in touch with officers in those jurisdictions to compare information.
No usable photographic evidence was obtained from Wednesday night's robbery, Campbell said.
Neither of the two employees at North Iredell Pharmacy were physically harmed.
The two suspects were described as white males in their 20s to 30s. One was 5 feet 6 inches tall and the other about 5 feet 9 inches tall. Both were wearing fake beards as disguises, reports indicate.
