Brawley Braves win I-SS tournament

TROUTMAN - Brawley racked up 203 team points and had four individual champions to finish first at Saturday's Iredell-Statesville Schools wrestling tournament at South Iredell.

West Middle was second with 182 points, followed by Lakeshore (144), Troutman (116), North (104), Statesville (88) and East (55).

West Middle had three individual champions, including 119-pounder Payton Shuford, who won the Bill Mayhew MVP Award. David Ibarra (135 pounds) and Keegan Bustle (189) joined Shuford as weight class champions for West.

For the Braves, it was R.J. Cloninger (103), Cody Henry (125), Ryan Devlin (140) and Eddie McGrail (145) finishing first. Brawley pulled away from the other teams with its depth as six of its wrestlers finished second in their weight classes.

Third-place Lakeshore tied Brawley for most individual champions by also having four.

Brian Adams (83), Alex Crosby (152), Jon Anderson (215) and Ronald Albritton (250) were the Lakers top performers.

Troutman also had multiple winners in Bradley Tadlock (130) and Devonte Bailey (160).

Other winners were North's Ryan Cockerham (93), Statesville's Ben Brown (112) and East's Israel Corder (171).
