Inclement weather could delay some newspaper deliveries this weekend, R&L Circulation Director Bud Welch said Friday.

Freezing rain was forecast to hit Iredell County late Thursday and into today before turning to snow later tonight. The icy conditions could hamper driving conditions for R&L carriers.

"If the storm hits us bad and the roads ice up, please understand the carriers' safety is our first priority," Welch said. "Depending on the road conditions, some carriers will deliver later in the day if the roads clear up."

Poor road conditions — largely in northern Iredell County — slowed deliveries last weekend, as well.
