TROUTMAN - Several South Iredell High School students sustained minor injuries Monday when a bus rear-ended a car.
Troutman police Sgt. Gary Shew said a car, driven by Angela Scott, stopped on Main Street near the intersection with Old Mountain Road.
The bus, driven by Tonya Lockhart, struck the rear of Scott's car, and a car traveling behind the bus couldn't stop in time and went underneath the bus, Shew said.
That driver, James Cook, was not injured.
The driver of the car, along with several of the more than 20 students on the bus, were taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital and Davis Regional Medical Center by Iredell EMS and the Troutman Rescue Squad.
Another group of students was taken to the hospital in an activity bus and was accompanied by a school nurse.
Shew said Lockhart and Cook were charged with following too closely.
