West Iredell's football team began a lengthy road trip with a solid 28-14 win at South Iredell last week.
The Warriors, who opened the season with back-to-back games at home, don't return to the friendly confines of Warrior Warfield until Oct. 2, when they host defending 3A state champion West Rowan.
That's fine by West coach Mark Weycker.
"Traditionally, our kids have played well on the road," Weycker said. "It's always nice to be in your home stadium, but we're to the point in our program, it's just about buckling up on Friday nights. We'd go out in the parking lot if that's what we had to do to play."
The Warriors are at Lake Norman (3-0) on Friday. They have an open date next week, before starting NPC play Sept. 25 at East Rowan.
