West volleyball reaches fourth round

West Iredell 3, Weddington 0
Anna Johnson and Paige Courson each recorded nine kills, and Jordan Ostwalt served three aces and dished out 35 assists as West Iredell defeated Weddington 3-0 in the third round of the 3A state playoffs Thursday.
West (22-1) turned back Weddington (21-5), the top seed from the Southern Carolina Conference, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20.
"I expected Weddington to be a good team, and they were," West coach Krystle Miller said, "my girls were just ready to play."
Ashley Frye (seven kills, six blocks) and Tess Sigmon (five kills, six digs) also played well for West.
With the win, the Warriors advanced to the fourth round, where they will host Charlotte Catholic for a berth in the West Regional final.
