Defending champion Raiders eliminated from playoffs

North Iredell's bid to repeat ended Thursday.

Charlotte Catholic rallied to beat the defending 3A state champion Raiders 25-27, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-12 in the third round of the 3A state playoffs.

In her final match, senior Rachel Wells handed out a career-high 46 assists to go along with her 15 digs, five kills and four aces.

Haley Ryne led North (21-5) in kills with 18, and Brooke Redmond added 10. Rhyne also served three aces, and Redmond had 11 digs.

Amy Shelton added eight kills and 10 digs in her final match.
