Nominations sought for VFW's annual Teacher of the Year award

Statesville VFW Post 2031 Auxiliary is again sponsoring the Teacher of the Year Award Program. The award recognizes the nation's top elementary, middle and high school teachers who teach citizenship and promote America's history and traditions in the classroom.
Nominations can be made by submitting a completed form and a 350-word essay stating why you feel the nominee should be selected. Brochures with additional information and application can be obtained at www.vfw.org under Programs, select VFW Scholarships.
Cash awards for winners are given at the local, state and national level. Nominations can be made by fellow teachers, supervisors, or other interested individuals.
The due date is Nov. 1, and all applications should be sent to or delivered to Statesville Auxiliary Post 2013, 139 Jordan Lane, Statesville, NC 28677.
