Lake Norman 3, East Gaston 0

Lauren Steiner recorded 10 kills and six blocks Saturday to lead Lake Norman to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-13) win over East Gaston in the first round of the 4A state playoffs.

Molly Cotten pitched in with eight kills and five digs for the Wildcats (17-9).

Jensen Schott paced Lake Norman's defense with 20 digs, and Madison Poovey made six blocks.

Lake Norman will play at either Sun Valley or Hopewell on Tuesday.
