Providence ousts Wildcats

MOORESVILLE - Lake Norman had a tough draw in the opening round of the playoffs, and it showed as Providence eliminated the Wildcats with a 7-2 victory.

Trailing 4-2 after singles, the Wildcats put up a fight in doubles and sent two to tiebreaker, but it still ended up a Panthers sweep.

Constance Crisp won 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 on the No. 5 court while Katie Connor picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win on the No. 6 court for Lake Norman.

Shruthi Rajan, with the doubles team of Crisp and Morgan Vlaich, will take part in this weekend's 4A West Regional.
