West Iredell came out swinging in round two of its bout with South Rowan on Saturday, but the punch missed and it was the Warriors who ended up on the deck.

After a power failure halted the game with South Rowan up 14-6 at the 1:10 mark of the second quarter Friday night, the Warriors kicked off to resume play Saturday.

Kicker Bryson Shepherd pooched the ball short in an attempt to gain possession and seize the momentum.

Several Warriors had a shot at the recovery, but the ball tumbled out of bounds, giving the Raiders possession at their own 36.

The Raiders quickly marched down the field, scoring on a 20-yard pass from Blake Houston to Hobbs Madison with just 11 seconds left in the half to put South Rowan up 21-6.

The Raiders then got their ground game rolling, piling up more than 200 yards rushing in the second half on their way to a 35-6 victory.

Thomas Lowe led the South Rowan ground attack with 109 yards on 15 carries.

The Warriors managed just 75 yards on the ground.

West quarterback Sayer Robinson threw for 108 yards and an interception on 17-for-25 passing.

Penalties were the only thing holding back South Rowan in the second half. The Raiders were flagged 17 times for 155 yards in the half.

West Iredell's best drive was its last. Taking over at their own 23 and trailing 28-7, the Warriors drove to the South Rowan 5-yard line, picking up four first downs as Robinson went 8-for-9 on the drive.

The fourth-down conversion failed, and the Raiders took over at their own 5. With less than a minute to play, Thomas burst into the secondary and rambled 80 yards to the West 3-yard line, then plunged into the end zone for the game's final score on the next play.
