The local chapter of March of Dimes plans to honor Mooresville businessman Larry Griggin Jr. at its Lake Norman Testimonial Breakfast on Oct. 22 at The Peninsula Club in Cornelius at 8 a.m.

The Lake Norman Testimonial Breakfast is an annual event held in honor of an outstanding individual and companies whose real estate development activities and community involvement have significantly enhanced the Lake Norman community. This rewarding event gives the commercial real estate community a unique opportunity to network with associates from throughout the Lake Norman area.

Recipients of the March of Dimes Commercial Real Estate Award are chosen for their outstanding leadership and vision in the community. This year the March of Dimes proudly honors Mr. Larry Griffin, Jr. who is known throughout the Lake Norman Community for his strong corporate citizenship. Larry is a principal in Griffin Brothers Acquisitions and Vice President of Griffin Brothers Tires, Wheels and Auto Repair. Larry is a Charlotte native and attended UNC Charlotte.

John Connaughton, UNCC professor of Economics will speak at the event. John is the director of the UNC Charlotte Economic Forecast, which is recognized as the leading source of economic information for North Carolina.

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Shannon and Terry Dolch, along with their son Cort are serving as the ambassador family for the event. Cort was born 11 weeks prematurely and was in the hospital for the first two and a half months of his life. The Dolchs will share their story of ups and downs at the event. Cort is now 18 months old and doing well.

One out of every eight babies will be born prematurely this year. One day every baby will be born healthy. We need the support of the Lake Norman Community to get there.

This is a fantastic opportunity for networking and to help in this cause. Tickets are available for $75, to order contact (828) 464.8905 or efranklin@marchofdimes.com.
