A Troutman woman was injured Monday morning when her car collided with a tree and overturned on U.S. Interstate 77.
Kimberly Wolf was taken to an area hospital following the crash, which happened on I-77 northbound near the 44-mile marker, which is about six miles south of Statesville.
Trooper Michael Brown of the N.C. Highway Patrol said Wolf lost control of her 2008 Kia and ran off the left side of the interstate.
He said she collided with a tree in the median and then overturned. The wreck occurred in an area where there are no median guardrails, he said.
Brown said Wolf's vehicle traveled 177 feet from the time she lost control until the vehicle overturned.
Wolf's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Brown said Wolf's license was suspended because of a medical condition. Wolf was charged with with failure to maintain proper lane and no operator's license.
The left lane of the interstate was closed for about 30 minutes, Brown said.
