Amy Shelton's offensive numbers have ballooned this year for North Iredell's volleyball team thanks in large part to her move to outside hitter.

The senior recorded 10 kills to accompany her 18 digs in the Raiders' 3-1 win Tuesday over Carson — a victory that helped North tighten its grip on second place in the NPC.

Shelton was predominately a back row player last year during Raiders' run to the 3A state championship.

"Amy has really picked up her play," North coach Natalie Tribble said. "This summer, I talked to her and told her we needed her experience and her strength on the front row. Amy has really stepped it up when it's on the line."
