Mooresville and Lake Norman both stumbled on the high school soccer field Wednesday night, as the I-Meck Conference race tightened up.
The Blue Devils gave up the game's only goal with less than two minutes to play in the second overtime, losing at Mallard Creek 1-0. It was Mooresville's second loss in I-Meck play, dropping the Devils into a three-way tie for first place with Mallard Creek and North Mecklenburg.
North Meck handed Lake Norman its third conference defeat, a 1-0 decision at North.
Mooresville returns home Monday against Vance, the first of four straight home games to close out the regular season. Lake Norman hosts Mallard Creek on Monday.
