South Iredell football coaches watched Henry Bustle and Cory Powell battle each other all summer for the right to be South's starting quarterback.
The Vikings may have found the perfect solution: Play both of them.
The two quarterbacks rotated practically every series two weeks ago, and both saw time again in last week's 53-14 win over Bunker Hill.
While not the sole reason for South's marked improvement, the Vikings have outscored their two opponents 92-14 since rotating the two.
"They're both very good, they're just good in different areas," Vikings coach Ed Masterton said. "Henry clearly is our running, our option quarterback and Cory brings a little more to the passing game. But they're both very good, and we have confidence in both of them. We could use either one at any time."
South cracked 300 rushing yards each of the last two weeks. The previous four games, its highest rushing total was 196 yards.
More importantly, the passing game was the most efficient last week.
Powell went 5-for-6 for 58 yards, with zero turnovers.
