CLAREMONT - Bunker Hill was supposed to have the explosive offense, but South Iredell showed the Bears how to put points on the scoreboard.
The Vikings scored eight touchdowns Friday and obliterated Bunker Hill 53-14 on the road.
It was the second consecutive win for South Iredell, which improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in Catawba Valley Athletic Conference play.
Perhaps even more surprising than the total number of touchdowns South scored was the fact that seven players scored for the Vikings.
Quincy Davenport scored twice, a 1-yard run and an 8-yard scamper.
Quataye Smyre, Tyrell Mattox, Tyler Smith, Cory Powell, Bryan Stewart and Scott Miller also scored for South Iredell.
The Vikings bolted out to a 27-0 halftime lead and added 20 points in the fourth quarter with their own backups in.
Smyre, perhaps the fastest player on South's team, ran it in from 15 yards out to start the scoring in the first quarter. Mattox added an 8-yard scamper to make it 13-0.
Cory Powell connected with Tyler Smith from 18 yards out in the second quarter, and Powell later plunged in from 1 yard out to make it 27-0.
The Bears scored on a 43-yard pass play and got their other touchdown on a kickoff return.
