Clydesdales to lead 65th Mooresville Christmas Parade

Organizers say the 65th annual Mooresville Christmas Parade, which rolls down Main Street on Tuesday, will be the town's biggest ever. At the very least, it will feature the parade's biggest horses ever.
A distinctive team of six Clydesdales will pull a large wagon carrying Santa Claus at the head of the parade, an event that will feature 151 floats, marching bands and other entries.
The parade starts at 3:30 p.m. on the north end of downtown and marches south along Main Street to College Street.
The Clydesdales' appearance is courtesy of Hunter Construction in Mooresville, and live on a farm in North Iredell. Their participation adds a new twist to the historic parade.
"It's wonderful that they're coming and it'll be kind of unique having them right in front of Santa," said parade organizer Ron Johnson. "Six Clydesdales will make a statement, because they're so big."
Along with the Clydesdales, the parade will feature marching bands from Mooresville, Lake Norman, South Iredell and Bandys high schools and Pine Lake Prep. Longtime local motorsports executive and promoter Don Miller, who was instrumental in the creation of the N.C. Auto Racing Hall of Fame's "Walk of Fame" in downtown Mooresville, will be the grand marshal.
"I think it's going to be a great parade," Johnson said. "And they're calling for pretty good weather."
