Lions lose in NCISAA 1A state final

Statesville Christian's bid for another N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1A state championship came up one match short Saturday.

Shannon Forest Christian defeated the Lions in the final in four games, winning 25-16, 22-25, 25-22, 25-14.

Nikki Rodin led SCS (26-3) with 16 kills and 16 digs.

Krystal Moose had 30 digs, and Madison Vaughn pitched in with 12 kills for the Lions, who collected 31 assists from setter Katie Lamm.

Lamm and Rodin were named to the NCISAA 1A all-state team.

On Nov. 14 at Charlotte Latin School, there will be a NCISAA 1A/2A East/West all-star game at 11 a.m. featuring the top seniors in the West versus the East.

Selected to play from SCS were Lamm and Moose.

Lions coach Shane Weber will coach the West team.
