Ryan comes close to making final heat

Blue Devils senior Tommy Ryan, one of the top hurdlers in the county for several years, placed seventh in the 300-meter hurdles at Saturday's 3A track and field championships.

Ryan, who suffered a hamstring injury last season during the 110-meter hurdle, missed running in that event this year.

In his qualifying heat, Ryan finished fifth-place by .03 seconds — only the top four make the final heat.
