Brian Fernandez shared this photo with the R&L from the strong storms that passed through the area yesterday afternoon.

According to an email from Fernandez, a fifth-grade teacher at Scotts Elementary School: "While I was inside the cafeteria at Third Creek Elementary School, I saw a tornado form and appear to touch down somewhere in east Statesville."
