Crisp and fresh ingredients are what you can expect at Field of Greens in Mooresville.
Located at the Shops at Morrison Plantation, the restaurant specializes in salads, soups and wraps.
Salad choices can be picked from the menu, or you can make your own. Some of the more popular picks are buffalo chicken, the Sweet Asian Orange Chicken with mandarin oranges, carrots, cucumbers, craisins and crunchy chow mein noodles and the Turkey Bacon Club with radiatorre pasta and greens topped with turkey, bacon and tomatoes.
I chose the Classic Chef Salad with ham, turkey, provolone cheese, chopped eggs and tomatoes on mixed greens.
The counter is glass, so you can watch as your salad is prepared at record speed. At the end of the counter is your choice of a dozen dressings, from the classic to the seasonal. After picking your dressing, you can opt to have the server toss the dressing for you, so the salad is evenly coated. Each bite was as good as the first thanks to this extra.
Not sure which dressing is for you? The server is glad to let you sample them before putting it on your creation, ensuring a good match. The salad portion is large and filling, so if you're dining out with a friend, you can split the salad and add a side of soup and a drink for $2.49 for a cheap and tasty meal.
Salads are priced between $7-$8, and extra toppings, such as croutons, more dressing or more cheese are $.59 each. All salads come with a freshly baked white or multi-grain roll, which was piping hot and delicious.
Wraps are served on a wheat or sun-dried tomato basil tortilla with chips and a pickle for about $7. Choices are similar to the salads available, such as the veggie wrap with lettuce, tomato, car-rots, cucumbers, mushrooms and onions with your choice of dressing or chicken Caesar wrap with lettuce, chicken, chopped eggs, tomatoes and Caesar dressing.
Paninis are also available on sourdough bread and are served with chips and a pickle. Choose from the chicken with roasted peppers, the caprese with mozzarella cheese, basil and tomatoes with balsamic vinaigrette, or the ham and cheese with tomatoes and spicy mustard. Sandwiches are $7.
Kids are welcome and can pick from chicken fingers, grilled cheese or a salad with three toppings for $4.39. Each is served with a fruit roll-up and a juice box.
Field of Greens is open Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (704) 660-9995.
