Beth Shalom of Lake Norman announced the schedule and details for its InterFAITH Awareness Weekend.
· Saturday, April 18, 6:30 p.m., Yom Hashoah, St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Davidson. Yom Hashoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, will be celebrated in an evening of remembrance.
Listen to an original musical composition by Henry Lebedinsky, Musical Director of St. Alban's while viewing art painted by his grandfather, a holocaust liberator. Hear a holocaust survivor and professor reflect on the atrocities of the holocaust as well as current human rights violations. Remember those who perished in the Holocaust and bring awareness to the horrors of genocide in an effort to end such tragedies. The evening will culminate in a candle lighting ceremony. Sponsored by Beth Shalom of Lake Norman and St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Adults & children of all ages and faiths invited. Free (donations appreciated).
· Sunday, April 19, 1 p.m., Interfaith Passover Seder, Congregation House – Davidson College Presbyterian Church, Davidson.
Passover (also called Pesach) is one of the central holidays of the Jewish religion. During the interfaith model Seder, participants will learn the 15 steps of the Passover Seder, what Passover means and what the holiday and Seder commemorate. During this experience, all guests will be shown how Jewish communities around the world celebrate the holiday of Passover and will be given a better sense of what makes it so important to the Jewish people. Sponsored by Beth Shalom of Lake Norman, St. Alban's Episcopal Church and Davidson College Presbyterian Church. Adults & children of all ages and faiths invited. Free (donations appreciated).
