2009 turkey calling contest to be held at Concord Mills

Considered one of the most prestigious calling contests in the country, the 2009 U.S Open Turkey Calling Championship Qualifiers get underway Sunday, March 29, at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World at 8181 Concord Mills Blvd. in Concord.
Contest finals and championship will take place at the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World store at the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, Tenn., May 16-17.
Cash and clothing packages from Mossy Oak and Rocky will be awarded to the first through fourth places, cash and gift packages from Mossy Oak and Rocky will go to fifth through 10th and 11th through 15th places will receive a $100 Bass Pro Shops Gift card. First place will pay $5,000 cash, second place receives $2,500 and third place gets $1,500.
To reach the finals, preliminary contestants are selected at the U.S. Open Turkey Calling qualifying rounds to be held at Prattville and Spanish Fort, Ala., Nashville and Sevierville, Tenn., Atlanta, Ga., Charlotte, Clarksville, Ind. and St. Louis and Springfield, Mo., Bass Pro Shops store locations.
First place winners from those qualifiers will receive paid travel and hotel accommodations to attend the U.S. Open Preliminary in Nashville.
