A Harmony man has been charged with the March 2 robbery of a Harmony convenience store.
Emmanuel Bryon Scott, 18, was arrested on a charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon and is in custody in lieu of a $45,000 bond.
Iredell County Sheriff Phil Redmond said the arrest came about as a result of Detective Sgt. Gerry Toney developing information that the suspect was possibly a teenager. He began talking with officials at local schools and school resource officers about the crime and played the audio portion of the store's surveillance video. Redmond said several people said they recognized the voice and identified it as Scott's.
The robbery occurred when a man came into the store and tried to grab the register, but was unsuccessful. The clerk, who had been in the back of the store cleaning, came up front and was accosted at knifepoint. The man then demanded the money, and after the clerk complied, he ran out of the store.
Scott was arrested Thursday.
