A teenage girl, missing since early May, was found Wednesday in Iredell County and has been returned to her family in Tennessee.
Iredell County Sheriff Phil Redmond said Deputies Nic Landis and Carl Adams received information on Wednesday that the 13-year-old girl, from Johnson City, Tenn., was in the area.
Redmond said information, from a concerned citizen, indicated that he had seen information about the missing girl, Amber Claybaker, on television, and he knew where she might be located.
Claybaker was last seen May 11 at her home in Johnson City.
Adams and Landis, Redmond said, followed up on the information, and learned she was possibly with an adult male, who is also from Tennessee.
Detective Sgts. Ernie Line and Joel Hepler investigated the reports and found Claybaker in northern Iredell County. She was detained so she could be returned to her parents.
The male was released, but authorities in Tennessee are conducting an investigation, and criminal charges may be filed.
Iredell County is also looking into the possibility of criminal charges as well, Redmond said.
