Two people were charged with stealing items from Iredell Memorial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
Joshua McGee, 22, and Samantha Beck, 21, both of Statesville, were cited for misdemeanor larceny. McGee was also charged with possession of Schedule IV controlled substance.
Statesville Police Department Chief Tom Anderson said that around 4 p.m. the two came into the emergency department at IMH, seeking medical attention.
Later, McGee was observed walking down the halls, stuffing items into a bag, Anderson said.
He was detained by officers, and they found Xanax pills and a variety of hospital supplies in the bag, Anderson said.
Both were cited for the charges and released, Anderson said.
