More than 20 singing groups and individuals are slated to participate in this weekend's Iredell-Statesville Community Concert.

The concert will be held Saturday at Christian Outreach on Rickert Street. The event starts at 5 p.m.
The concert will feature Christian music and will be a fundraiser for the nonprofit organization.
"We want it to be well attended and supported by the community," said I-CARE Executive Director Bryan Duncan.

Organizers are asking attendees to make a donation at the door.

I-CARE programs include Head Start, a childcare service; Community Service Block Grant that helps move families above the poverty line; Workforce Investment Act Youth program; and weatherization.
This is one of several fundraisers the organization is planning to host in the coming months. Duncan said the agency will try to have one fundraiser per month, except during the United Way of Iredell County blackout phase.

Duncan said the reason for the concert is to pay for the agency's programs and "to try to retire existing debt and build some reserves."

The goal over the next year is to raise $50,000 via fundraisers, he said.
