All-America City delegation returns tonight

City and civic leaders are hoping for a good showing of flag-waving and red-white-and-blue clad residents when the bus carrying Statesville's award-winning All-America City delegation returns tonight.
With its theme of "Many Beats, One Rhythm," the delegation of about 50 Statesville residents from all walks of life captured its second All America City designation with the presentation it gave Friday at the award's finals in Tampa, Fla.
In 1997, Statesville also won the prize, which is given out by the National Civic League.
The group's chartered bus is scheduled to arrive tonight at 7 p.m. at the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce building at the corner of East Front and Cooper streets.
Organizers are encouraging city residents to be on hand for the victorious return.
