The many talents of an everyday mom

Published: June 4, 2009

It takes some serious talent to change a diaper with one hand, while also talking on the phone to work and making silly faces so the baby won't cry. Just for example.
So, in honor of talent week, here's a list of my Top 10 Talents Moms Possess:
n The ability to know what your child is doing three rooms away, just by listening.
n A tone of voice that makes said child freeze in their tracks, no matter what they're doing.
n The magic to make almost any boo-boo better with just a kiss.
n A knack for knowing when to jump in and help, and when to back off.
n The power to transform into coach, chef, seamstress, math teacher, driver, personal shopper or nurse — usually at a moment's notice.
n A memory that stores all the sweet moments of parenting, and forgets the really insane ones.
n The strength to rise to any challenge, even the ones involving things so gross they make you want to cry.
n A natural curiosity that finds dinosaur-shaped clouds and passing fire trucks just as exciting as a 3-year-old.
n Special vision that can detect dirty hands or unbrushed teeth.
n The wisdom to fall asleep each night knowing tomorrow is another chance to teach, laugh, learn and love with your children.
