Defense was the difference in the Iredell Warriors' season-opening victory.
The Warriors held the Carolina Gators to 100 yards and added a defensive touchdown to wrap up a 25-0 victory.
With Carolina driving late in the hame, William Marion intercepted a pass at Iredell's 4-yard line and then pitched the ball back to Eric Daniels, who returned it 89 yards for a backbreaking touchdown.
Monty Knox helped put Iredell up by rushing for 71 yards. His 1-yard plunge in the second quarter made it 10-0.
Roger Alexander ran it in from 12 yards out to make it 17-0, setting up Marion and Daniels' big play.
The Warriors (2-0 overall, 1-0 CCFL) will host the Richmond Golden Bears at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at South Iredell High School.
