A man riding a bicycle was seriously injured late Tuesday afternoon when his bike collided with a pickup truck.
The crash occurred on Cornelius Road, a short distance off U.S. Highway 21 near Mooresville.
Timothy Wayne Turner, 32, of Mooresville was airlifted from the scene to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was listed in serious condition Wednesday.
Trooper Sammy Martin of the N.C. Highway Patrol said that Turner was riding his bicycle, traveling east on Cornelius Road.
A pickup truck, driven by Mark Witherspoon, also of Mooresville, was traveling east on Cornelius Road as well, Martin said.
Witherspoon pulled into the opposite lane, in a passing zone, to go around the bicycle, which then turned into the path of the truck, Martin said.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
Witherspoon was not injured in the crash.
