Two men face criminal charges in connection with the theft of lawn equipment and other outdoor items.
Randall Lynn Hines and Michael Lee Perry, both of Statesville, were each charged with six counts of felony larceny. Hines is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Iredell County Sheriff Phil Redmond said more than $3,000 of stolen property has been recovered. Deputies hope to find more of stolen items before completing the investigation.
Redmond said the investigation began in April when lawn mowers, all-terrain vehicles, dirt bikes and golf carts were reported stolen from businesses and individuals across the county.
Detective Sgt. Randy Pearson obtained surveillance footage from James River Equipment on Mocksville Highway, the site of one of the thefts.
Late last week, Detective Sgt. Errin Jenkins located a witness who provided information on the possible location of some stolen goods, Redmond said.
Detectives followed those leads and found several items, which in turn led them to Hines and Perry, Redmond said.
Two lawn mowers, a dirt bike and a golf cart were recovered.
A rifle was found in Hines' possession when he was arrested. As a convicted felon, he is not permitted to possess a weapon, Redmond said.
A third suspect is still being sought, and the investigation is continuing.
