What are the biggest issues facing your constituency?
Unemployment and the slow economy; Drugs and drug-related crimes.
Of those issues, which is the most important?
Drugs - people do not feel safe in their homes or anywhere because of all the crimes that come from the use and selling of drugs. City Council is doing everything in our power to combat this by supporting our police and county sheriff's department, but until we get the Supreme Court all the way down to the local lawmakers and judges to punish these criminals to the fit the crime (from the smallest to the largest "kingpin"), this problem will not be solved.
What, if any, prior experience do you have that will help you if you're elected?
I retired from the city as a fireman. I have served on the council for 20 years this December. I have never missed a council meeting. I feel that if you are going to do the job, you need to be there.
What is one thing you think the incumbent is doing right?
n/a. No one is running for my seat.
What is one thing you think the current board is doing wrong?
n/a
What specifically would you do if elected in response to the area's growth?
I will work diligently with the council to attract new businesses and industries to Statesville. I will make myself available to everyone and listen to their suggestions and concerns. I always research every issue before I make a decision.
