A trail work day for Phase IV of Lake Norman State Park's Itusi Trail is scheduled for Jan. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The work day is organized and supported by First Flight Bicycles and Tarheel Trailblazers mountain bike club.
The Itusi Trail at Lake Norman State Park is a 13 mile trail that winds through Lake Norman State Park and is used by cyclists, hikers and trail runners. The trail has been built over the past eight years using more than 6,500 volunteer hours. Phase IV which will add close to 7 miles of new trail to the existing trail system.
The new section is located on approximately 160 acres between Lake Norman and Wildlife Road.
Work will begin at the gate on Wildlife Road 100 feet from the intersection of Wildlife Road and State Park Road.
Tools and expertise will be provided. Please wear sturdy shoes, work gloves and appropriate clothing for outdoor work. Volunteers are responsible for their own snacks and water. If the weather permits, bring your bike and enjoy the existing trail after trail work.
