Textile companies that want to develop specialized products may turn to an international research and testing group that has opened its U.S. headquarters in Elon.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported Thursday that Hohenstein Institute, a German research firm, has hired former textile executive Sam Moore. He will work to develop the company's business in the United States.
The institute wants textile and apparel companies to do more than manufacture fabric. Its projects include research into better bed linens for people with certain medical conditions and developing fabric for athletes that removes moisture better.
